Do's and Don'ts
Don't bother chasing after discounted tickets for Disney World.Advance purchases from Disney or third-party wholesalers only knock off a few bucks. However, Universal Orlando regularly posts excellent deals on their website
Do go easy on the extras when purchasing Disney World tickets. They have four parks available, the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Many folks have their fill after a long weekend, so don't add add-ons you won't have time for.
Don't pay more for a room with a view;you won't be there enough to enjoy it.
Do spring for one of Disney's eight "deluxe" resortsif you're after convenience and comfort.
Don't opt for Disney's budget digs, especially during school breaks. They're crowded and far from the action, despite being on park premises.
Do consider renting as a way of curbing costs. There are hundreds of houses, many with their own pools, just a mile or two from Disney. Check out TropicalPalms.com and AllStarVacationHomes.com
Don't eat at Disney World during peak lunch hours (noon to 2)when chow lines can burn off a good half hour of your day. Instead, snack as you go.
Do reserve seats at one of Disney's Character Breakfasts. These guarantee your kids face time with costumed favorites and you'll fill up on so many pancakes and sausages, you won't be hungry again until the afternoon.
Don't brave Disney's free resort busses, especially at the end of the day.A ride back to your hotel can drag on for an hour.
Do rent a car. They start at $25 a day, about what a five-mile taxi ride costs, and they give you easy access to the city's other attractions, such as Universal and SeaWorld.
