Chattanooga Airport boardings up 11% as restart of New York nonstops sought
Chattanooga Airport passenger traffic is up nearly 11% so far this year, and officials said they're intent on restoring service to pre-pandemic levels, including the return of nonstop flights to New York City.
Passenger boardings are higher due to the economic growth in the area, said April Cameron, the Chattanooga Airport's chief executive.
"Our goal is to finish the year strong," she said in an interview.
After air traffic worldwide was hit with the pandemic shutdowns, some routes were furloughed by the airlines. The nonstops between the city and LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Delta Air Lines have failed to return.
