Chattanooga Airport Unveils New Website Created in Partnership with UTC's Computer Science Department

(June 21, 2005) - The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority today unveiled a new airport website designed to make air travel information easier to access for local passengers. The website address is www.chattairport.com.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Computer Science Department partnered with the Airport Authority and the Airport's webmaster, Joe Alegre of Alegre Design, on the upgrade. The student team of Yogini Jokhakar, Beom Ko and Yeon Whang created new programs such as a fare calculator - which helps customers calculate the "true cost" of flying from another airport, sign-up capability for the Airport's e-newsletter and fare sale notifications, as well as a page of answers to travelers' most frequently asked questions.

"Our partnership with UTC has once again yielded significant rewards to the Airport Authority as we now have an updated website that is both functional and user-friendly for our customers," said Mike Landguth, President and CEO of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. "The student team, along with their professors and Mr. Alegre, have developed a website that will provide better service to our customers every day."

"We are very grateful for the opportunity for our Computer Science Department to partner with the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority," said Dr. Roger Brown, Chancellor, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. "As a metropolitan university, UTC views its partnerships in the community as vital. The experiential learning opportunities for our students and the applied research projects for our faculty members that are made possible through relationships with the governments, agencies, and industries in our community distinguish a Chattanooga educational experience. By working together, we can accomplish far more for our region."

The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport offers 28 daily departures on American Eagle, Delta Connection Carriers, Northwest Airlink and US Airways Express with nonstop service to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Memphis, Washington D.C., and beginning October 1, Houston, Texas on Continental Airlines.
