The health and safety of our passengers, personnel and partners remain our first priorities as we carefully monitor the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The World Health Organization has said there is very little risk of contracting a communicable disease aboard an aircraft due to high-efficiency air filtration systems. However, out of an abundance of caution, Chattanooga Airport is taking additional precautions to ensure a sanitary and healthy environment throughout our passenger terminals and shared spaces.
The Chattanooga Airport has not had any reported cases among our passengers, personnel or partners, but we are diligently following the guidance of the Federal Aviation Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, our airline partners and federal, state and community health officials as we receive it.
In addition, our housekeeping staff is continuing to pay special attention to disinfecting high-traffic areas such as check-in kiosks, counter tops, hand rails, seating areas and other shared spaces.
Due to the impact of the virus, airlines are making frequent changes to the flight schedules and routes to and from the Chattanooga Airport. We urge travelers to check with airlines directly regarding flight status.
As always, we encourage everyone to monitor his or her health prior to arriving at the airport. We also urge passengers to bring hand sanitizer or anti-bacterial wipes for personal use during travel. Washing your hands often, staying home when you're sick and avoiding touching your face are the best preventative measures to avoid illness, according to the CDC.
In the event a situation arises that will affect future travel in or out of the Chattanooga Airport, we will immediately and continuously share updates to our community through our website, social media platforms and media advisories.
